When I’m not travelling or sipping drams, I spend my time meeting interesting local people — many of them with good stories, and some with even better companions.

A few years ago, I met a Highland lady in her nineties, artist Diana, and her semi–Scottish wild cat, Tiger. Tiger, it quickly became clear, was a character in his own right. Over time, the stories accumulated — quietly, naturally — until it seemed a shame not to share and preserve them.

This is not just a story about a cat.

It’s a story about place, routine, companionship, and the small moments that make up a life — viewed, more often than not, from the sofa.
